In playwright John Greiner-Ferris' new work, a homeless single mom named Bella meets a kind Latino mechanic, aptly named Jesus, who comes to her aid when her car breaks down on the interstate. Initially distrustful of his interest in her and her two children, Bella must learn to open herself up to the help of others and let go of her past. An exploration of family, identity and class, Turtles features strong female voices and multiracial characters in what Greiner-Ferris has called an attempt to "write something that actually reflected the world I lived in." —Emma D.
