Turbo Fruits, Pujol, Pink Flag

When: Wed., March 30 2011

Turbo Fruits' garage rock is a drunken, frolicking mess. The music—and probably the people playing it—seems perennially stuck in the moment a rebellious teen discovers drugs and drink. The Nashville band's website has been suspended (you can have it back if your grades improve!), and they made The Dallas Observer's Nick Rollo's SXSW list with "Best Gibberish in Between Sets." On top of that, songs like "Mama's Mad Cos I Fried My Brain" and "Ain't the Only One Havin' Fun!" only complete the picture of a band that's a riot onstage ... and, most likely, everywhere else. With Pujol, also of Nashville, and Durham's first ladies of punk, Pink Flag.—Corbie Hill
