Starring the voice of Ryan Reynolds as Theo, a garden snail dreams of becoming a world famous racing star, the movie features fantastic art and character design, but is ultimately brought down by a generic script. Stuck with the ironic moniker of Turbo, Theo leaves home one night after a near-death experience in which he attempted to outrun a lawnmower. Venturing into the real world, the snail finds himself an unwitting part of a street race, which ends with nitrous oxide fusing to his molecular structure. Soon the snail is living up to his nickname, and entering into the Indy 500. While the very origin of his super speed could open the film up to questioning the performance enhancements that the small creature relies on, we are only asked to cheer for the cipher of a main character, and hopefully pop the extra cash in for the generic 3D effects.
