TRIANGLE FILM COMMUNITY: TWO SHORTS & A FEATURE

RALEIGHWOOD CINEMA GRILL, RALEIGH

THURSDAY, JAN. 29

The Triangle Film Community seeks to expand from social group to outlet for local educational programming with this debut edition of what organizers hope will be a monthly film series. Free and open to the public, the evening kicks off with a couple of shorts: Displacement Welcomed by Raleigh native Evan Kidd and Liyana, on Command from Durham's Eryk Pruitt. The feature presentation is Woodhouse Divided, directed by Fuquay-Varina filmmaker Bryan Miller, about the politically divergent Triangle siblings Brad and Dallas Woodhouse (recently seen on C-SPAN being dressed down by their mother). All three directors participate in post-screening Q&As. "Just because the film incentives left North Carolina in 2014 does not mean there is a dearth in talent," says co-organizer and fellow filmmaker Josh Hardt. And what better way to showcase local filmmaking talent than dinner and movies?

6 p.m., free, 6609 Falls of Neuse Rd., Raleigh, 919-847-0326, www.facebook.com/groups/TCPros. —Neil Morris
