Before Danny Boyle became known as the Academy Award-winning director of 2008's smash hit Slumdog Millionaire, he was known for his critically acclaimed cult classic Trainspotting. Starring Ewan MacGregor, the film follows him and his group of fellow heroin addicts in late 1980s Scotland as they live their lives in a constant drug haze. Based on the novel of the same name written by Irvine Welsh, Trainspotting is an hour and a half of pure mainlined adrenaline. —Belem Destefani
