Tour de Brew

When: Sat., Oct. 17, 10 a.m. 2015

If you like bikes and beer, Tour de Brew doesn't really require a bonus feature to entice, as the premise combines, well, bikes and beer. Corrals of cyclists leave Fullsteam at specified times throughout Saturday morning, following routes designed to take them to as many as five Bull City breweries on routes that stretch from 3.4 to 55 miles. It's not a race, so there's no need to chug and simply spin away. When the ride is over, a free block party awaits on Rigsbee Avenue, with performances inside Motorco featuring an eclectic roots-based bill of Crystal Bright, Curtis Eller and The Holland Brothers. But Tour de Brew is also a traveling fundraiser for Water for Good, an Indiana-based organization that has drilled more than 600 wells in the Central African Republic. It owns and operates the equipment to do the job, too, meaning the group is committed to the region and the task on a long-term basis. All you have to do to help is raise enough money to register, pedal, drink and revel. Now, if only we could find a way to turn trolley pubs into a charity affair. 9 a.m.–8 p.m., $20–$500, 723 Rigsbee Ave., Durham, 574-635-1401, Haver Currin
