Re: “Guitar Center Is Leaving Durham. Here’s What That Means for Indie Music Stores

Can't help but marvel how Indy can take an article about a big box store moving 15 miles and turn it into a political diatribe.

Re: “Muddy message, bland candidate: Why the Democrats lost

The Hagan campaign overreached and their main talking point, that Tillis "cut" $500 million from the NC education budget to provide a tax cut for "yacht and jet owners" was easily refuted by news outlets generally considered sympathetic to the Democratic cause such as the Washington Post. Add to that the fact that many North Carolinians did notice that their tax burden was reduced at the beginning of the year so, despite stagnant wages, they at least were taking home more pay than they were in December 2013. Furthermore, while one can dispute the 7% figure, NC teachers had their first pay raise of any sort in a long, long time. It wasn't much but it did reverse the trend that began with a Democratic General Assembly in 2008. The few positive Tillis ads highlighted these points and NC voters agreed. In other words, Tillis didn't come across as the monster the DNSC tried to paint him to be and Hagan, well, was at best uninspiring.
