Tokyo String Quartet

When: Sun., Oct. 7, 3 p.m. 2012
Price: $10-25

This will be the Tokyo String Quartet's last visit to the Triangle. When violinist Kikuei Ikeda and violist Kazuhide Isomura retire next July, the tightly knit quartet will disband after 44 years. Their program sandwiches an early Webern composition between quartets by Haydn and Schubert. Known for playing a set of Stradivarius instruments once owned by Niccolò Paganini, the Tokyo's farewell performance is a mustn't-miss for chamber fans within earshot. The quartet also will hold a master class at 10 a.m. at Ruggero Piano, 4720 Hargrove Rd. —Chris Vitiello
