Tobacco Road Dance Productions: In Concert

When: April 14-15, 7 p.m. and Sat., April 15, 2:30 p.m. 2017
Price: $13-$15

Three years after Tobacco Road Dance Productions' first strategic intervention among choreographers, its advice still holds up: if you want to change the outcome, change the process. This weekend, we'll see how the works-in-progress of six dancemakers have changed after months of mentoring with Tobacco Road's panel of dance midwives. Established collaborators Stacy Thomas Wolfson and kinetic banjo player Curtis Eller present a new duet, Hypnagogiacs. Anna Barker meditates on getting stuck in "what about this" and other false starts. Artistic practice itself also figures into Audrey Baran's quintet, Moving In, while Jade Poteat diverges from her usual movement vocabulary to investigate stillness and postures. Marsha Thomas explores the feminist poem "Things We Were Not Told Early Enough," and Dana Livermore's regional debut, The Ogre's Wife, interrogates femininity and happiness in the modern desires and roles of women.
