Thymos Quartet featuring Christoph Eschenbach

When: Sun., Jan. 24, 8 p.m. 2016
Phone: 919-660-3357
Price: $10-$42
Early last year, Paris’ Thymos Quartet, joined by famed conductor and pianist Christoff Eschenbach, recorded an album of Schubert. This concert will show off the results. His “Rosamunde” Quartet was written around the same time as “Death and the Maiden” and features much of the same tumult. And his “Trout” Quintet, named for the expansive variation set in its finale, remains one of his most popular works. Eschenbach and bassist Yann Dubost will join the group for this piece. —Dan Ruccia
