Thrice, Kevin Devine, Bad Veins, The Dig

When: Tue., June 29, 7 p.m. 2010
Price: $19–$22

Kevin Devine wears his heart on his sleeve, disarming crowds with a fragile voice and acoustic strums on contemplative ballads. But when Devine casts scorn—as on the apocalyptic "Another Bag of Bones"—his voice turns into a weapon aided by electricity. Thrice headlines. Their moody brand of post-hardcore pulls in too many directions across six records to make a compelling case. In the opening slots, dance-punk duo Bad Veins trade The Killers' glossy sheen for a bit of fuzz, while the power pop chameleons of New York's The Dig mix 'n' match garage-blues bluster and indie riffs. —Spencer Griffith
