This Land Is Your Land

When: June 25-26, 7 & 9 p.m. 2013

The American Dance Festival isn't just for the stage anymore. Last year brought a mind-blowing performance by Shen Wei Dance Arts all throughout the permanent collection at the N.C. Museum of Art, as well as a delightful Gwen Welliver piece set in and around Olafur Eliasson's kinetic shadow installation at the Nasher Museum of Art. This summer, Seattle choreographer Mark Haim puts a main stage work in the Nasher. Set to a country music soundtrack, This Land Is Your Land permutes the simple motion of walking into a comprehensive exploration of "consumerism, environmental abuse, and body image." There's limited chair seating, or you can stand for the 50-minute performance. —Chris Vitiello
