Re: “Raleigh Little Theatre's The Light in the Piazza

I tend to agree, it became a show about arches and a sticky floor. I really only enjoyed half (if that much) of the show as the other half was, unnecessarily, in Italian. No need for it, especially the scenes without Americans in them. But, many of the failings of this show is the show itself, and this is where i think you'll disagree with me. The music is flawed and the plot, while trying to be realistic with half the dialogue in Italian, is hard to take serious. The only character that seems to care for Clara’s well being is her father half the world away. The mother is pretty much saying, “I’m done; here you take my child while I go Back and divorce her dad”. The book and music: 1 star; the singing: 3-3.5 stars; the acting: 2 stars; overall: 2.5 stars. But hey, that’s my opinion, go see it and decide for yourself.
