The Whiskey Gentry, A Mad Affair

When: Wed., April 17, 9 p.m. 2013
Price: $5

They look like proper misfits at a rockabilly car show, and they sound like they've been kicked out of a backwoods church social: That's The Whiskey Gentry, an Atlanta sextet that sings about faith and debauchery. Formed in 2009 by husband-and-wife duo Lauren Staley and Jason Morrow, the band adds here-and-now punch to old country roots. Chapel Hill folk-pop trio A Mad Affair opens. —Ashley Melzer
