The Weights

When: Fri., Feb. 13, 7:30 p.m. 2015
Price: $10-$15

HILL HALL AUDITORIUM AT UNC—When Durham choreographer Justin Tornow's The Weights premiered at the Carrack in December, the INDY's Chris Vitiello praised it for its immersive quality—the audience sits in an X-formation amid the dancers—and its themes of territorialism. If you missed that DIDA debut, here's a second chance, courtesy of UNC's Department of Music. That's right, music: Though The Weights is a dance work, equally important is its live score, a structured improvisation by UNC professors Lee Weisert (electronics) and Matthew McClure (saxophone), which feeds the dancers of COMPANY (Emily Aiken, Amy Blakely, Samantha Steffen and Ronald West) like a short-circuiting power supply. 7:30 p.m., $10–$15, 135 E. Cameron Ave., Chapel Hill, 919-962-1039, —Brian Howe
