The Twilight Sad, Errors, Gray Young

When: Fri., Nov. 9, 9 p.m. 2012
Price: $10-12

With the release of their 2007 debut, Fourteen Autumns and Fifteen Winters, Scottish rock band The Twilight Sad emerged as an earnest, aggressive and emotional act, pushing distortion and volume beneath songs about love and loneliness and the bittersweet comingling of the two. Though they've often talked about new influences, their subsequent releases—including this year's slightly stale No One Can Ever Know—have taken a similar path, with shoegaze growl howling beneath Britpop glow. Maybe Glasgow's Errors, who open, can offer some stylistic diversions; the band's excellent LP, New Relics, is a kosmiche beauty, with strangely warm electronics cascading over brilliant propulsion. Gray Young opens the 9 p.m. show. —Grayson Currin
