The Tender Fruit

When: Sat., July 25, 6 p.m. 2015
Price: free
The Tender Fruit’s Christy Smith is one of the Triangle’s best songwriters. Her raw, emotional tunes cut deep to tap into familiar aches and sorrows. The songs sometimes resonate so intensely they have the power to startle. Smith’s 2010 album, Flotsam & Krill, was sometimes rough around the edges, but last fall’s stunning The Darkness Comes was an overdue, well executed and satisfying follow-up. The Tender Fruit plays the blissful, early-evening Saturdays in Saxapahaw series. —Allison Hussey
