The Story of the Gun

When: Jan. 8-12, 7:30 p.m. and Sun., Jan. 12, 2 p.m. 2014

Last year was a busy one for monologist Mike Daisey. After reprising American Utopias for Duke Performances in January, he debuted at least seven new works over the spring on topics including social media, the power of curses and a recent tour of India. September saw his marathon: a self-styled 29-night "theatrical novel," followed by a new monologue in October on whistleblowers Daniel Ellsberg, Chelsea Manning and Edward Snowden. In their midst, PlayMakers Rep commissioned a new work on our country's relationship with guns for PRC2, its second-stage series. —Byron Woods
