The Shine Brothers

When: Fri., Aug. 9, 9 p.m. 2013
Price: $8-10
Nate and Colin Ryan, the fraternal pair behind The Shine Brothers, were once members of Black Angels, and their new music is coated in similar molten psychedelics. But where the Angels slink and throb, as much like shoegaze as '60s pop, the Brothers focus on hooks. Guitars charge through with trebly verve as bass amps offer comfortable fuzz. Shrill organs slip through the sound, shaping slipstreams that are oh-so-fun to follow. Melissa Swingle, whose dry but hypnotic style was last heard in The Moaners, also plays, as does Impossible Vacation. —Jordan Lawrence
