The Secret Sisters

When: Thu., Oct. 16, 8 p.m. 2014
Price: $15-$17
Laura and Lydia Rogers sang in church choirs in Alabama, and they brought harmony-heavy gospel and roots to life on 2010’s self-titled debut. While the A&R guys came looking for Lumineers or Of Monsters and Men, the siblings went broader and louder for the T-Bone Burnett produced follow-up, Put Your Needle Down. It features a great cover of PJ Harvey’s “The Pocket Knife” and a previously unfinished Bob Dylan number, “Dirty Lie.” “We’re in our experimental phase,” Laura said in an interview last week, “except we’re not using drugs.” —Chris Parker
