Horror, Suspense/Thriller

This sequel to last year's box office surprise The Purge continues the tale of a not-too-distant America's annual night of lawlessness, when everything's legal for 12 hours. The original was a home invasion thriller, but Anarchy moves the action outside, following an unlikely group as they battle their way through the city to what they hope is safety, similar to 1979's The Warriors (but not as well executed). Its message that the upper class is waging war on the lower classes lacks subtlety, but the storytelling focus is improved this time around and it does deliver cheap thrills.
