The Pietasters, The Everymen, Archbishops of Blount Street

When: Sat., Nov. 23, 9 p.m. 2013
Price: $12-15
The Pietasters haven't released a collection of new material since 2007's All Day. That record carried the band further from its ska-revival origins and deep into rock 'n' soul territory. All Day and its predecessor, 2002's Turbo, are the band's most mature outings and arguably their best—more Reigning Sound than Mighty Mighty Bosstones. But the beer-fueled '90s ska hits remain obligatory fan favorites. The 'Tasters seem willing to humor the crowd, but it puts more recent material somewhat at odds with fan demands. After almost a quarter-century, though, the D.C.-area ensemble deserves more than two tones. The Boss-bitten bar-punk of New Jersey's The Everymen fills the middle slot; Archbishops of Blount Street open. —Bryan C. Reed
