The Othermen, The Infamous Sugar, DJ Lord Redbyrd

When: Fri., July 3, 9 p.m. 2015
Price: $5
The Othermen’s 2014 single “(Do The) Stand Still” garnered the garage-bred quartet national attention and made their expectations clear. The snide parody of retro dance-songs lampoons the contemporary habits of listless audiences who listen but don’t participate. “Brand new dance, I’ll tell you what to do/ Stand around like you’re fuckin’ cool, yeah,” frontman Max Frechette howls. “Don’t even need to move around, yeah/ Stand around like a fuckin’ clown.” With a potent blend of ’60s garage and R&B, Dwarves-like punk and Murder City Devils toughness, The Othermen’s ragged sound certainly lends itself to activity. —Bryan C. Reed
