The Music of Queen

When: Thu., July 14, 7:30 p.m. 2011
Phone: 919-733-2750
Price: $43-100

"Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?" you may ask yourself. Don't feel confused; it's just the North Carolina Symphony presenting the music of Queen. Joining forces with conductor and arranger Brent Havens, the symphony will explore the boundaries between classic rock and classical music for this one-night-only spectacle. Havens has spent the past several years bringing the music of The Doors, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin to symphonies across the country. For this show, he has recruited vocalist Brody Dolyniuk of the Las Vegas classic rock act Yellow Brick Road, plus a full band, to fill out the orchestral arrangements. A rhapsody of symphonic subtlety and rock drama awaits, surely. Tickets run $43–$100 for the 7:30 p.m. show. —Ashley Melzer
