The Manhattan Transfer

When: Thu., Oct. 2, 8 p.m. 2014
Price: $37-$88.50
Since first earning notice at Max’s Kansas City, one of New York’s hotbeds of punk in the mid-’70s, the Manhattan Transfer has been defiantly retro in sound and sensibility. Best known for the 1981 hit version of “The Boy From New York City,” the quartet has won Grammys for its masterful interpretations of classic pop and jazz, which they deliver with old-school panache. —David Klein
