The Last Night of Ballyhoo

The Last Night of Ballyhoo

When: April 8-24 2011
Price: $12-20

A beautifully crafted play written by Alfred Uhry (Driving Miss Daisy), The Last Night of Ballyhoo is set in the lively Freitag home in December 1939. The household is flush with talk about Ballyhoo, the lavish ball for Southern Jewish socialites, and the world premiere of Gone With the Wind, rather than Hitler's recent invasion of Poland. The play explores the prejudice in everyday Southern life during the time, but it takes a Brooklyn "outsider" to illuminate the prejudice within their own ranks. In the capable directing hands of RLT's Haskell Fitz-Simons, it is sure to be a spring theatrical treat. Show runs April 8–24 at RTL Sutton Main Stage Theatre. Tickets are $20, $16 students/seniors and $12 on Sunday, April 10. Curtain times are 8 p.m. Thursdays–Saturdays and 3 p.m. Sundays. —Christina Cass
