The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Bloodshot Bill

When: Tue., April 14, 9 p.m. 2015
Price: $15-$17
Jon Spencer had a robust career in rock before his Explosion. He caused a racket in bands like Boss Hogg and The Honeymoon Killers and spent the late ’80s fronting the joyously unpleasant Pussy Galore. But The Blues Explosion is Spencer’s main deal, logging more years than any of his other groups. In 2010, the original trio returned from hiatus at a moment when indie rock was finally embracing R&B, just as Spencer long had. Their new record, Freedom Tower-No Wave Dance Party 2015, is as gonzo and irreverent as its title suggests. —Jeff Klingman
