The Isley Brothers

When: Sun., May 10, 7:30 p.m. 2015
Price: $55-$95
The Isley Brothers have never stopped crossing borders. Beginning in the mid-1950s as a gospel trio in Cincinnati, the group honed its live act at the Apollo Theatre as its songs found favor among beat groups both in the U.S and U.K. From there, through five decades and over frequently changing lineups, the bros delivered a string of canonical hits: dance-floor-filling rump shakers, blissful ballads, rock-funk hybrids—they even charted with Bob Dylan’s “Lay Lady Lay.” The current lineup features surviving members Ronald and Ernie Isley. —David Klein
