The GGVM Crew

When: Mon., Aug. 3, 9 p.m. 2015
Price: $10
The Triangle’s startup culture has made many of us familiar with development phases—researching, conceptualizing, executing. Relatedly, the Triangle’s hip-hop upstarts have shown us that many of them are only interested in the executing phase, which is done poorly when the first two steps aren’t involved. This is the case with Raleigh-based “independent brand and record label” GGVM, which claims to be the jack of all rap trades. But so far, they’ve only released jacked-up rap singles (Judas’ “Boy,” for instance) that many of us would rather trade in for silence. —Eric Tullis
