Re: “Getting a label deal is important, but it's not the only route to success for me, give me a vinyl full size record album (w/ the accompanying cd & mp3 download), but most importantly with liner notes, comments from the band members on what they were thinking, doing, etc., when they wrote the music, and personal insights from the road, touring, and such. Yes, the way it was when I was a kid+ in the sixties & seventies. The kids of today want all that, but they've settled for what they get for free off the internet, they have no heart, or maybe not enough have a heart & soul for the bands they listen to, enough to actually buy the music & support. It's a matter of consciousness, do you have one?

Re: “Getting a label deal is important, but it's not the only route to success

Bitchin' & moanin' comes with the territory, I don't blame any band for that, no, frustration is part of the struggle, maybe a never ending one, until the band pulls the plug. In this climate of computer rip off generated downloads & such, the fact that any band can make money off a release boggles the mind. The famous Smokey Robinson stated, in so many words, a few months ago, when asked if he was putting out a new record, that there was no money in that, only in performing, the pay gotten from a booking. Problem is there's not much pay for a booking until you've made the big time, what a dilemma, one that is most real to the music industry of today. American Idol anyone?

Re: “The Alcazar Hotel's Suicide King/ Stupid Feeling 7"

Good to see this lively group of dudes putting out a release! I interviewed them about a year ago on my WCOM, Joe & Joe's Local Show, they are most energetic, the lead singer especially, and the MC5 comparison suits.

Not a boring band to take in, yes!

Re: “Embarrassing Fruits' Community/ Exploitation

Long live creative writing, yes lyrics, and this band has it, that & a certain 3-piece honesty that you just don't find in those bands that follow a formula for popularity, the only formula followed here is the one this talented writing threesome created .

Re: “Free Electric State's Caress

Come on out to experience this FREE ELECTRIC STATE cascading wall of late sixties like sound at the Pinhook on Friday night, (yes, like San Fran back before it went nation wide), be prepared to be blown away, what with A Rooster For The Masses opening, and don't miss the very cool Beloved Binge, a lineup worth taking in.

Re: “Free Electric State signs to Churchkey Records, prepares debut LP

I am the proud owner of an original issue of their initial two song ep, Hawks and On & On, (a good mix & recording by Joe Norkus at The Owl Room, mastered by Carl Saff), and now FREE ELECTRIC STATE is debuting a full offering this Friday night at Durham's Pinhook, cool.
