The Everymen, JKutchma & the Five Fifths

When: Fri., Dec. 28, 10 p.m. 2012

The Everymen hail from the Jersey Shore, but they share mostly nothing with the debauched MTV version. Instead, The Everymen's hometown roots come in the form of the region's wellsprings of emotive and hooky punk. The bar-rock horn-laden paeans to heartbreak and backache share a room-filling sprawl with New York's World/Inferno Friendship Society, but where that octet's musical inclusiveness evokes the Big Apple melting pot, The Everymen hold tight to roots, punk and '60s pop traditions. Backed by the lush and dynamic country-rock of his Five Fifths, Jason Kutchma heightens the narrative potency in his songwriting. —Bryan C. Reed
