Rudyard Kipling's poem about keeping one's head while everyone else goes crazy is something most of us can relate to, and perhaps it informs the themes of John Patrick's 1950 play. Ethel Savage's stepchildren commit her to a sanitarium when they discover she's inherited a large amount of money from her late husband. What pushes them over the edge is when Ethel decides that she'll use the money to help make people's (sometimes far-fetched) dreams come true. —Sarah Ewald
