The Church

When: Sun., March 15, 8 p.m. 2015
Price: $25-$28
The Church’s biggest American hit remains 1988’s “Under the Milky Way,” but the Australian stalwarts have been at it for 35 years and still show no signs of slowing, despite notable changes. Last year’s Further/Deeper, recently released stateside, is their first album ever without guitarist and singer Marty Willson-Piper. Remaining original members Steve Kilbey and Peter Koppes, along with longtime drummer Tim Palmer, recruited Ian Haug, a veteran from fellow Aussies Powderfinger. The new album is a recharged affair. Kilbey’s moody, cryptic lyrics and the group’s dark, tuneful turn on psych/space rock remain as gripping as ever. —Ned Raggett
