The Bird with the Crystal Plumage and The Strange Vice of Mrs. Wardh

When: Sat., July 28, 7 p.m. 2012
Price: $8.50

A double shot of Italian giallo horror gets the spotlight at tonight's Cinema Overdrive. First up is the directorial debut of gore-meister Dario Argento, 1970's The Bird With the Crystal Plumage, the tale of a magical bird that helps two children battle a deadly witch ... um, sorry, we meant to say "the tale of an American in Italy stalked by a deadly serial killer." It's followed by 1971's The Strange Vice of Mrs. Wardh (also known by the less compelling title Blade of the Ripper) the tale of a lady with an ... odd reaction to the sight of blood, who gets wrapped up in a web of adultery, blackmail and murder. You know, the stuff of all good cinema. The double feature includes some classic trailers. —Zack Smith
