The latest Spidey flick is so guileless that critical resistance is futile, so innocent that it's probably not aware of its own clichés. But director Marc Webb and star Andrew Garfield have contagious fun with the origin story, and the obligatory shift to battling a super-villain is handled surprisingly well. This version of Peter Parker broods a bit more than his very recent predecessor, but as is shown by its Spider-Man, who uses his webs to create a giant hammock, it doesn't want anybody to work too hard.
