Thanksgiving Day Hike

When: Thu., Nov. 28, 2:30 p.m. 2013
Phone: 919-413-3868
Nestled just inside the southwesternmost nook of the beltline is Lake Johnson, one of Raleigh's most serene and picturesque in-city attractions. My wife lived nearby when we began dating 10 years ago, and we have many memories of peaceful walks along the lake's trails, which include a boathouse near where Avent Ferry Road crosses the waters. Night on the Town, an informal social group for singles (but open to all), is hosting this 3.5-mile midday hike around Lake Johnson for those who'd rather get outside than watch football, or would like to work off some of those pumpkin pie carbs. Meet in the parking lot of Athens Drive Community Library, 1420 Athens Drive, and look for the silver car with the "Night on the Town" sign. —Peter Blackstock
