Terry Anderson & the Olympic Ass Kickin' Team

When: Wed., Oct. 5, 10 p.m. 2011
Price: $2

Veteran North Carolina drummer and songwriter Terry Anderson's roots rock credentials are impeccable, with time in seminal bands the Woods and the Fabulous Knobs on his résumé. What's more, his songs have been covered by the Georgia Satellites and Dan Baird, and he spent time in the Baird-fronted stuporgroup the Yayhoos. So it was quite the scandal recently when information was uncovered that ass-kickin' is not an official Olympic-sanctioned sport. The title of their latest album, National Champions, has been verified as fully legit, however, the band having been awarded the title at the annual NCAA Ass-Kickin' Tournament in Dubuque, Iowa. If Anderson and his cohorts simply continue to kick ass as they have for the past decade, the International Olympic Committee is bound to take notice eventually. —Peter Blackstock
