Teen Daze, Heavenly Beat, Eli Cash

When: Wed., Oct. 7, 8:30 p.m. 2015
Price: $10
The unformed feelings of first-wave chillwave, roundly mocked at the time, at least allowed the subgenre’s adherents to grow up in interesting ways. Vancouver producer Jamison, aka Teen Daze, has moved on from his teen days wrangling beat-driven haze. His latest record, Morning World, instead delivers crisply constructed chamber pop (not so unlike other records made by that album’s collaborator, John Vanderslice). Opening act Heavenly Beat—the electronic project of former Beach Fossils bassist John Peña—hews closer to the glitchy yet chillaxed sounds Jamison left behind. —Jeff Klingman
