Taylor Stevens

When: Thu., Feb. 2, 7:30 p.m. 2012

Taylor Stevens might be one of those thriller writers whose background is more fascinating than her books. Born into the Children of God cult, Stevens traveled the world, only to be denied an education after age 12. In her 20s, she escaped to start over in the United States. This has now translated into a series of thrillers starring the character Vanessa Michael Munroe, who, in the new book The Innocent, must rescue a young child from a cult called "The Chosen," in which Monroe herself was once raised. We're just going to pause and not comment here. Stevens appears at Quail Ridge for an interview and signing at 7:30 p.m. Thursday; she's at McIntyre's Fine Books in Fearrington Village on Saturday for a talk, Q-and-A and signing at 11 a.m. —Zack Smith
