Re: “UNC and its Honor Court have failed sexual assault survivors

"Who would make up a story like that?"

What a dishonest statement. I support all efforts to protect people who have suffered abuse and punish those who committed such offenses, but to pretend to be ignorant of and pretend to have no knowledge of any false claims in such circumstances makes one doubt her story. People lie all the time. They lie about these exact things. That is why there is a court and not a an automatic guilty verdict.

This author and Ms. Gambill respond to all legitimate questions designed to determine her credibility as though it were some masochistic desire to punish women and victims of sexual assault. Some examination of credibility is essential to the finding of the truth and therefore justice. It is not always pleasant, but it is a fact of life. A false accusation could destroy a life as much as being the victim of assault. THAT is why establishing credibility should not be equated with "victim blaming".

This author would have had the Duke Lacrosse team thrown in jail because any attempt to establish the truth would have been "mean" and "victim blaming".

One more thing, just because someone doesn't believe you, doesnt mean you are being mistreated by them. It might just mean you lack credibility!
