Tall Buildings, New Town Drunks, Neil Diamond Allstars, David Spencer Band, Dex & the New Romans

When: Thu., April 26 2012
Price: Donations accepted

The area's scene is tight-knit, epitomized by these groups pulling together to benefit a hospitalized friend. Any of them can be spotted almost nightly somewhere along West Franklin Street; that's certainly how New Town Drunks got their name. Their lively jambalaya of music styles blends country, swing, rock and Tex-Mex, led by sultry-throated siren Diane Koistinen. Dexter Romweber's band the New Romans explore a blend of garage, swing and Tin Pan Alley pop with a full band and backup singers. They're a fine complement to Neil Diamond All-Stars, whose namesake rose to fame on the power of Brill Building pop. Tall Buildings and the David Spencer Band round out the bill. There's no cover, but donations are accepted. —Chris Parker
