Taína Asili y la Banda Rebelde

When: Thu., April 9, 9 p.m. 2015
Price: $10
In Latin America, music has always been the expressive key for protest. Taína Asili y La Banda Rebelde continue the tradition with a mix of reggae and salsa backed by a social conscience. Kickstarter donations helped the band fund Fruit of Hope, a lyrically positive set designed to inspire the typically burned-out activist. Working for prisoner rights and offering free shows for community centers, Taína Asili’s performances are a welcome balm in tough times. —Amanda Black
