Tab Benoit, Mel Melton & The Wicked Mojos, Dead 27's

When: Fri., May 15, 8 p.m. 2015
Price: $20-$30
When Tab Benoit plays guitar, he conjures Albert King and Albert Collins. When he sings, he suggests Delbert McClinton with a Cajun accent. The Louisiana native started on drums before switching to guitar, but he can play fiddle, piano and accordion, too. He’s an avowed environmentalist, too, using his Voice of the Wetlands All-Stars band to raise money and awareness for the acre-an-hour-wetlands lost in his native state. A swampy, soulful bluesman, Benoit is a genre-jumping giant. —Grant Britt
