Systems | Reservoir | Clubs & Concerts | Indy Week
This is a past event.
When: Tue., May 11, 10 p.m. 2010

The dark heart of West Franklin Street is almost certainly The Reservoir, an unassuming dive (technically on Brewer Lane) where you can experience crushingly heavy music on a weeknight, for free. Systems, a band split between Carrboro and Charlotte, sound like Neurosis in a blender or a properly medicated Dillinger Escape Plan. Two serpentine guitars twist and bicker. An equally technical and schizoid drummer lands rhythmic wisecracks. Spencer Lee's bass is positively tectonic. Together, it's the aural equivalent of a severe thunderstorm. Sons of Tonatiuh's diesel-fueled death punk and Lord Mantis' punishing black metal start at 10 p.m. —Corbie Hill
