Hearts should swell and sigh on a night brimming with the sound of Tchaikovsky's compositions. The playful yet highly emotional quality of the Russian master's work will provide an evening of charms and enchantment, while Koka Booth's wooded amphitheater should offer an adequately nymphal setting for the composer's Piano Concerto No. 1 and selections from Swan Lake. If you're interested in experiencing Swan Lake without the nail-biting tension of watching Natalie Portman slowly turn into a demon-swan, you might fancy this performance. William Henry Curry will conduct selected pieces from the ballet (sans dancing), and Conrad Tao, a 16-year-old piano prodigy from Illinois, will perform the concerto. —Nina Rajagopalan
