Re: “Sweepstakes gambling on the way out in NC?

These people complaining about losing all their money or someone they know lost everything, just stop and think who is to blame for that. No one made them enter the Sweepstakes place to play. And maybe it becomes an addiction - but that can't be addressed by the Sweepstake owners. It's up to the individual to get help for ANY addiction. My husband and I are retired and on fixed income, but we were having fun playing the different games and we made more than we spent. And someone please explain to me how the state can sell scratch off tickets and lottery tickets and it's not gambling! We spend more per week on those than we did in the sweepstake cafes and it isn't against the law. The Sweepstake cafes employed people, building owners received rent, we met some good people in them and had fun whether we won or lost. You never gamble without expecting to lose! Instead of raising our taxes on gas and personal property, why couldn't they just go to a state where it is legal and find out how they tax the Sweepstake cafes and get money that way. It all seems two-faced to me by politicians! Imagine that. It's just the LOCAL BIG BROTHER trying to control our lives based on their beliefs. Who gave them that right?????
