Stranger In The Valley of the Kings, Wailin Storms, Melissa Swingle

When: Sat., June 20, 9 p.m. 2015
Price: $7
Stranger in the Valley of the Kings’ instrumentals are methodical like post-metal, but sweeping, patient and airy, too. The presence of violin makes Godspeed comparisons inevitable, but the overall vibe is more akin to Russian Circles on anxiety meds. The menacing doom punk of Wailin Storms, new signees to Magic Bullet Records, is some of the most interesting angry rock happening in the Triangle. Two-decade local music veteran Melissa Swingle opens with a not-to-be-missed duo set. —Corbie Hill
