Stochasticity | The Carrack Modern Art | Stage | Indy Week
This is a past event.

When: Nov. 1-2, 8 p.m. 2013
Price: $5
The Carrack Modern Art isn't a conventional dance space, but then Stochasticity doesn't seem a conventional dance. Matthew Young dances with Leah Wilks on Friday night and Renay Aumiller on Saturday night in a work described simultaneously as "highly structured," "completely improvised" and "intentionally random." If you've ever been on a dance stage yourself, these apparent contradictions actually sit well together, as dances can have well-defined sections within which improvisational movement fits. When it comes off, it gives the work a charged feel, and Young, Wilks and Aumiller are certainly skilled and experienced enough to put themselves in the super-attentive state necessary to transfer the current to an audience. —Chris Vitiello
