Static Minds, Pink Flag

When: Thu., Sept. 1, 10 p.m. 2011
Price: Free

Static Minds make perfect sense as a Local Band Local Beer headliner. They're from Raleigh, so they fit safely within the series' titular restrictions. They play potent, big-riffed jams that nod to grunge with their tones and to classic rock with their pleasantly hammy solos and choruses. It's pretty accessible stuff, but not particularly aggressive, an enjoyable soundtrack for throwing back a few great Triangle pints. Good rock and good beer—not exactly earth-shattering, but it'll do for a fun night out. Durham's Pink Flag opens with a dose of their grrrly pop-punk. —Jordan Lawrence
