Weekly highlights for arts and entertainment in the Triangle

Carrboro welcomes masters of the tap shoe Robin Vail, Mimi Benjamin and Footnotes Tap Ensemble for their Summerdippity concert. The Ensemble has danced a blue streak of late, tapping out quality performances for the Chapel Hill Arts Commission and more recently for a crowd of 1,500 in the opening ceremonies for Special Olympics. 7:30 p.m., Carrboro Century Center, 100 N. The Politics of Poetry event at Ooh La Latte brings together local poets and activists from Durham People's Alliance, N.C. Lambda Youth Network, Center for Documentary Studies and others who imagine a new future after this election year. The Open Door Theatre presents KERPOW!, by local playwrights Kit FitzSimons and Bryan Cohen. KERPOW! promises all the fun of previous summer shows, plus even more men in tights! When four friends set out to educate their audience about superheroes throughout the ages, they discover their own superpowers and defeat a villain who was hiding in their midst. To get up with the Raleigh art scene, you must get down to the Basement Studios.
